Accounting, Reporting and Assurance

Books that are merely complete are not enough. Books should be decision grade, reconciled, and able to withstand an auditor, a lender or an acquirer without remediation.

Overview

Most businesses discover the quality of their books at the worst possible moment, during a diligence or a lender review. Maintaining them to that standard continuously costs very little more than maintaining them badly, and removes an entire category of last minute risk.

Work in this practice is delivered under the same operating standard that applies across the firm. The compliance calendar is mapped at the outset and driven by us, positions involving judgement are documented with the authority relied upon at the time they are taken, and nothing is filed or issued without an independent internal review by someone other than the preparer.

Where a matter touches another practice area, and most do, it is handled inside the same file rather than referred outward. That is the point of holding these disciplines together.

Common questions

Can you work on our existing accounting software?

Yes. We work within the system you already use rather than requiring a migration, unless the current setup is itself the source of the problem, in which case we will say so.

What does decision grade actually mean?

Reconciled monthly, supported by documentation, and structured so that the numbers answer management questions rather than only satisfying a filing requirement.
